Short Month, Big Events with Artis—Naples 2024-25 Season

Artis—Naples offers a fun-filled February that continues its season-long theme of Storytelling with a rich lineup of thought-provoking exhibitions, inspiring performances and more.

The Baker Museum opens the month with a new exhibition, In the Making: Sketches, Studies and Maquettes from the Permanent Collection on February 1. This informative exhibition offers a fascinating window into the creative process, from initial sketches to fully realized works of art. To complement the exhibition, author and art conservator Rosa Lowinger will present a lecture, Process to Artwork: Exploring the Role of Maquettes in Sculpture and Monuments, on February 12. And upstairs on the museum’s third floor, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s interactive exhibition, Obra Sonora, continues to captivate visitors with its innovative exploration of sound and music as art mediums.

The excitement continues as the Naples Philharmonic takes center stage this month with two major programs. On February 11-15, Principal Pops conductor Jack Everly and the orchestra take audiences on an intergalactic journey through iconic sci-fi and fantasy scores in Other Worlds: The Best of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, featuring special guest John de Lancie—known for his role as Q in Star Trek: The Next Generation—as narrator. Later in the month, February 21-22, the orchestra presents a Masterworks program featuring conductor Kevin John Edusei and violinist Yamen Saadi performing Sibelius’ passionate Violin Concerto and Shostakovich’s gripping Symphony No. 10. Musicians of the Naples Philharmonic finish the month with Sypert Salon chamber music performances on February 25 and March 2, highlighting Anton Reicha’s challenging Horn Quintet and Mozart’s intricate Dissonance String Quartet. 2024-25 Season

Major visiting productions and ensembles round out the month with numerous unforgettable experiences. From February 4-9, MAMMA MIA! brings ABBA’s beloved music and a heartwarming story set on a sunlit Greek island to Hayes Hall for eight performances. Dance enthusiasts also have something to look forward to as Miami City Ballet returns on February 18, featuring two signature Balanchine works alongside a striking new dance by Pam Tanowitz. On February 15 and 25, literary fans will delight in conversations hosted by literature critic Elaine Newton with celebrated authors Amor Towles (A Gentleman in Moscow/Table for Two) and James McBride (The Color of Water/The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store), respectively. And capping it off, the London Symphony Orchestra makes its Naples debut with two programs, February 27-28, under the baton of Sir Antonio Pappano, featuring Dutch violinist Janine Jansen performing Bernstein’s Serenade on the earlier program.

Beyond Broadway and classical, Artis—Naples offers a variety of performances to suit every taste in February. Kashmir featuring Jean Violet brings the full Led Zeppelin experience to Daniels Pavilion on February 15-16. And on February 16, the Gipsy Kings featuring Nicolas Reyes fill Hayes Hall with passionate flamenco sounds and beloved hits like Bamboléo. Isaac Mizrahi takes the Daniels Pavilion stage on February 23 with his unique blend of music, comedy and commentary, and that same evening, Canadian crooning legend Paul Anka delights audiences in Hayes Hall with timeless classics like Diana and Put Your Head on My Shoulder.
