NCH Healthcare System Welcomes Kristin Mascotti as Chief Medical Officer

Quality patient care is always the driving force behind all NCH initiatives. After an extensive search, NCH Healthcare System was proud to announce Kristin Mascotti, M.D. as the New Chief Medical Officer (CMO)  of the NCH Healthcare System this past summer.

NCH leadership led a national search facilitated by a physician centric search committee who worked with Russell Reynolds to identify the best candidates in the country. During this time, numerous highly qualified candidates were diligently interviewed to find the right leader for the medical staff at NCH.

Her executive leadership experience and proven collaborative successes along with her collegial and friendly demeanor made her the clear choice for our organization. The newly appointed CMO Dr. Mascotti comes to NCH from Long Beach Medical Center and Miller children’s  & Women’s where she served as Chief Quality Officer. Prior to her role at Long Beach Medical Center, Dr. Mascotti was the Vice President of Clinical Quality at University of Minnesota Health, where she
led the strategic vision and implementation of quality performance initiatives in partnership with administrative, clinical leadership and frontline staff.

Dr. Mascotti is “one of the nation’s highly respected physician leaders and innovators in clinical quality and best practice, evidence-based medicine who led quality efforts at academic medical centers and teaching hospitals,” according to a statement from MemorialCare.

Certified as a Physician Executive from the American Association for Physician Leadership, Dr. Mascotti completed her Master’s Degree in Healthcare Quality and Safety Management from Thomas Jefferson University School of Population Health. Board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, she graduated
summa cum laude in biology from University of Wisconsin, received her medical degree at University of Minnesota Medical School, was chief resident at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis and completed a Fellowship in Transfusion Medicine at University of Minnesota.

She was leading COVID-19 efforts at Long Beach Medical Center and previously had extensive experience with infectious diseases. She worked alongside the Chief Nursing Officer as the joint lead on the 2014/2015 Ebola efforts while at the University of Minnesota to create the Special Pathogen Containment Unit for the state of Minnesota and Midwest region. The team was awarded a $5MM federal grant, became CDC certified, and was awarded best practices for PPE and SWAT teams.
