ART after DARK
It was just nine months ago that we bid farewell to the Naples Beach Hotel, a constant in our community for the past 75 years. The Watkins family, who owned it, were a very “community minded” and environmentally conscious entity in Naples and it’s surrounding area. So… with the help of artists Oona Watkins, Lionel Heddy, Jan Ellen Atkielski, Natalie Guess, Jeff Fessenden, Janet Kirby and Phil Fisher, the Phil Fisher Gallery/Guess-Fisher Gallery will be hosting a fundraising event to benefit the Cypress Cove Landkeepers, which supports The Gore Nature Center and its programs.
The show is titled “Remembering The Naples Beach Club”, and will be open to the public the week of February 21st through 28th featuring paintings and prints depicting memories of that historic hotel. As an extra point of interest, there will be views painted from Mary Watkins’ yard on the beach, scenes from The Gore Nature Center and various graphic works of environmental subject matter by Oona. February is the month that events are happening almost daily.
It is one of the busiest months of the year, in terms of visitors/seasonal residents, so the gallery is spreading the show over a week to accommodate schedules. It is an event you won’t wantto miss. Phil Fisher Gallery is open 1 to 7 pm daily and located at 810 12th Ave S where 8th St S & 12th Ave S meet by the flagpole near Naples Bay in a quaint area called Crayton Cove.
