Three Local Leaders Honored at Celebration Reception

David Lawrence Center (DLC) celebrated the end of season and their 50th Anniversary with a reception honoring three special individuals and businesses.

As Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit mental health and addiction recovery treatment center serving children, adults and families, it relies on the contributions and leadership of the people who support it to advance DLC’s mental health, substance use, and integrated healthcare solutions.

The free reception, held at Naples Grande, gave DLC the opportunity to shine light on a selected few who stand out for their support of mental health as well as to thank donors, advocates, and friends for their continued support throughout the year.

Cummings & Lockwood has been a steadfast supporter of DLC for over 13 years. Through their partnership, they’ve helped further the conversation on the importance of mental health and substance use services in our community.

In addition to their financial contributions to a variety of DLC fundraisers, they allow their expert staff to serve in leadership capacities on the Center’s various boards and committees.

Lavern Gaynor, Stand-Up Award.

Gaynor was honored for her passion to bring awareness to adolescent mental health, in particular, for her support of DLC’s efforts to provide early identification of at-risk children and community collaborations that increase access to services.

Gaynor is a well-known, celebrated local philanthropist and community advocate whose generosity has shaped Collier County to what it is. She remains actively involved and supportive of many charitable causes and civic organizations, including The Community Foundation of Collier County, Collier Senior Resource Center, Champions for Learning, David Lawrence Center, Naples Historical Society, and Friends of Rookery Bay.

HONORABLE JANEICE MARTIN

Honorable Janeice Martin, Advocate of the Year.

Judge Martin was honored for her role in advocating for the needs of those struggling with mental health and addiction who have faced legal challenges as a result of their illness.

For the last six years, she has served as the Circuit Court Judge presiding over Collier County’s Adult Treatment Courts, which includes: Drug Court, Mental Health Court, and Veterans Treatment Court.

In this capacity, she works tireless with DLC on a daily basis to help those struggling get access to the treatment and support they need to live a healthy, happy, and crime-free life.
