Glenn Seven Allen

Exciting New York City Opera artist Glenn Seven Allen, returns for this energetic evening of hit songs from great Operas and classic Broadway shows like “My Fair Lady”, La traviata, The Mikado, and more. Allen has received critical acclaim on theater, opera, and concert stages throughout the United States as a consummate singing actor, lauded for his dynamic interpretations of heroes and leading men. He was hailed by Opera News as an “Edwardian matinee idol, giving by far the most detailed dramatic performance.” In past seasons, Allen starred as Jack Twist in Brokeback Mountain with New York City Opera and subsequently returned as Freddy in Dear Erich. He also performed a Benefit Concert of Candide at Carnegie Hall, Lt. Cable in “South Pacific” with Annapolis Opera, Will in Middlemarch in Spring with Ash Lawn Opera, and performed in New York City Opera’s production of Candide.

Allen is joined by soprano Jacquelynne Fontaine, who was hailed “elegantissimapiena di passione[full of passion]” for her portrayal of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, in

Viterbo, Italy.  Notable appearances include Kathie in The Student Prince with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Violetta in La traviata for the Rogue Valley Music Festival, the Old Globe Theater as the “Ragazza” in A Room with a View, Anna in “The King and I” for Opera North, Charlotte in A Little Night Music with Indiana Repertory Theater, and Violetta with Tacoma Opera.  She also appeared in recitals and concerts in southern California. For three years, starting in 2013, Jacquelynne stared as the Italian Prima Donna Carlotta in the Broadway National Tour of “The Phantom of the Opera”- over one thousand performances.

The dynamic duo is accompanied on piano by assistant conductor Geoffrey Loff and will be touring southwest Florida from January  25th to  January 30th.

Biographies

Glenn Seven Allen is garnering critical acclaim on theatre, opera, and concert stages throughout the United States as a consummate singing actor, lauded for his dynamic interpretations of heroes and leading men, alike. Mr. Allen was hailed by Opera News as an “Edwardian matinee idol, giving by far the most detailed dramatic performance.” This past season, Mr. Allen starred as Jack Twist in Brokeback Mountain with New York City Opera and subsequently returned as Freddy in Dear Erich. Other recent seasons’ engagements include Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at the Featherstone Arts Center on Martha’s Vineyard; Jerry in Steven Burke’s new opera The Juggler, based on Joseph Caldwell’s play of the same title at The Park Avenue Armory; Camille in The Merry Widow at The Northern Lights Music Festival; Pontius Pilate in Casa Mañana’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar; Lt. Cable in South Pacific with Annapolis Operaand performed at New York City Opera in Hal Prince’s acclaimed new production of Candide.

Also in demand for his creative portrayals of the leading men of operetta repertoire, Mr. Allen was featured as Camille in The Merry Widow with the Imperial Symphony, Alexius in The Chocolate Soldier with Bard Summerscape, Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance with Utah Shakespeare Festival, and Ralf Rackstraw in H.M.S. Pinafore with Opera Saratoga.

Known for his work on Broadway and in leading theatres throughout the country, Mr. Allen appeared as Giuseppe in the Tony-winning Broadway run of Guettel’sThe Light in the Piazza. Other theatrical credits include Girl Crazy with City Center Encores, Casino Paradise with Lincoln Center’s American Songbook Series, Lancelot in Camelot at the Arvada Center, Rutledge in 1776 at Goodpseed Opera House, Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar at North Carolina Theatre, the role of Assistant D.A. Kramer in the world première of Bonfire of the Vanities at The Process Studio Theatre, Carousel with the NY Philharmonic for PBS Great Performances, and Clifford Bradshaw in Cabaret at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., where he received The Helen Hayes nomination for Best Actor.

Mr. Allen is currently a member of the acting faculty at the Yale School of Drama and is a sought after clinician for his “Acting in Song” master classes. Mr. Allen has studied and coached with leading instructors including: George Shirley, Neal Goren, Francis Keeping, Fred Carama, John Mario DiCostanzo, Tyson Deaton, and Howard Watkins.

Allen Rich, in his review of her debut on the Jacaranda Concert Series, wrote that she was “a soprano new to us, and all the more wondrous for that.”

Recent awards include: Loren Zachary Grand National Finals top five Winner; Semi- finalist in the International Competitzione del’ Opera in Dresden; Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Western Regional Finalist; Rio Hondo Symphony “Young Artist of the Year”; and the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Los Angeles, “Singer of the Year”.

In 2006, Miss Fontaine was crowned Miss California, and placed in the top ten at Miss America 2007, also winning the talent award for her performance of Puccini’s “Vissid’arte”.  She recently competed her second year of doctoral studies at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California
