Naples Yacht Club Receives Recognition

NAPLES YACHT CLUB NAMED A PLATINUM CLUB® OF THE WORLD RECOGNIZING IT AS AN ELITE PRIVATE CLUB GLOBALLY

Naples Yacht Club, the first and oldest private club in Naples, has achieved status as a Platinum Club® of the World. This inaugural ranking of worldwide clubs by The Club Leaders Forum Advisory Board is an additional honor for the Naples Yacht Club and complements its current designation as a Platinum Club of America.

In electing Naples Yacht Club as a Platinum Club of the World, an international panel of industry experts, historians and connoisseurs considered the Club’s Universal Recognition, Respected Membership, Excellence in Amenities and Facilities, Exceptional Service Standards, and how the Club has Adapted to Changing Times, Management and Operations and the Overall Experience. In total, there are only 250 Platinum Clubs of the World, comprising golf and country clubs, city clubs and, new this year, yacht clubs.

“We are honored to earn this distinction which recognizes our team’s dedication and commitment to excellence in all areas of management, operations and governance,” said Mike Mooney, General Manager for Naples Yacht Club. “Platinum Club status is widely revered and respected and is acknowledged as the highest honor that a club can achieve.”

Located at the southern end of Seventh Street in the Aqualane Shores section of Naples, the Naples Yacht Club was founded in 1947 by three friends – Stephen Briggs, Benny Morris and John Glen Sample. Earlier this year, Club completed a $10-million-dollar renovation and expansion that completely updated the clubhouse that was built in 1960.

The newly expanded Naples Yacht Club features a two-story clubhouse with full-service boat slips situated right on Naples Bay. A portion of the original building was torn down and replaced with a new structure. The remainder of the building was modified to include a new gathering lounge and expanded bar along with more terrace dining. A corner stairwell on the exterior also was removed to greatly enhance waterfront views.

The interior design of the clubhouse was inspired by a historical mural by local artist Paul Arsenault. The mural is painted in three sections depicting Gordon River Pass with an old Texaco sign and covered boathouses; another perspective of Gordon River Pass showing the boathouses and three sailboats; and the old city docks and former Naples Yacht Club.
