Naples Ski Club Wins the 2015 Florida Cup

The Naples Ski Club won the Florida Cup from rivals Palm Beach Gators Ski Club last month at Telluride in Colorado. More than 142 skiers competed representing nine of the 16 ski clubs throughout the state of Florida.

Florida Cup winners all from Naples: Diane Loveless,  Terese DeLuca, Susan Hetman Gerhard Raible, Jeffrey Allen, David (Smitty) Smith took home the coveted trophy.

“We are so proud of our accomplished members,” said Sandy Wilson, Naples Ski Club Director of Trips. “Although it’s great to win, the opportunity to meet and socialize with other ski enthusiasts in beautiful resorts like Telluride is what the club is about.”

Started in 2005, the Naples Ski Club serves Southwest Florida and is a member of the Florida Ski Council encompassing 16 member clubs. Not just about hitting the slopes, the club organizes events around kayaking, boating, golfing, biking and bowling.

Other Naples Ski Club NASTAR winners were: Cara Melito (Fastest Female 40-49), Susan Hetman (Fastest Female 60-69), David (Smitty) Smith (Fastest Man 50-59), Jeffrey Allen (Fastest Man 60-69) and Gerhard Raible (Fastest Man 70-79) National Standard Race (NASTAR) winners were: Gerhard Raible (Silver), Susan Hetman (Silver), Jeffrey Allen (Silver), Terese DeLuca (Silver), Lisa Railble (Bronze), Diane Loveless (Bronze), David (Smitty) Smith (Bronze), Mark Malone (Bronze) and Al Cote (Bronze).
