Art After Dark – United Arts Council
This is officially the United Arts Council’s “Celebrate the Arts” month. In Crayton Cove, it seems as though every month is a chance to celebrate the arts. All of the Galleries of Crayton Cove have events planned throughout the month to offer the opportunity to visit each of them and see the new works they have available.
The evening of November 8th will be especially active. Being the second Saturday of the month, it’s Art After Dark and all the galleries will be open from 6-9 p.m. to greet the public with refreshments and some will feature live music along with the opportunity to meet the artists. The Phil Fisher Gallery is hosting a book signing from 6-8 p.m. for local author, Abdullah Sharif, with his book, Sardar, From Afghanistan’s Golden Age to Carnage.
An aviation engineer as well as a trained diplomat, Sharif brings a keen eye to US reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan, while his childhood experiences and understanding of local culture help him see those efforts from an Afghan perspective. The result is an insightful, thoughtful, and sometimes heartrending portrait of a nation pushed to the limit. Sardar provides an insider’s view of US/Afghanistan relations, reminding readers Afghanistan wasn’t always a nation of chaos and violence. Be sure to stop by and meet this insightful author.
The Businesses in Crayton Cove, including the galleries, are having an event on Tuesday, Nov. 11, when they will unveil their “Creative Holiday Trees” that will be auctioned off to help raise funds for Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. Come vote on your favorite tree and get the chance to win a prize package.
Guess-Fisher Gallery is excited to announce the prepublication offer of a book titled Naples Memories, featuring the artwork of our own artist, Phil Fisher! It is available at
a special “pre-publication” price through November 10 and will be released in January 2015.
Come to Art After Dark Saturday Nov. 8th, from 6-9 p.m. and visit our newest gallery; Vintage Charm, who has been in Naples for a number of years and is now a member
of the Galleries of Crayton Cove. Also, be sure and stop in Phil Fisher Gallery, Arsenault Gallery, Nora Butler Designs, Naples Ships Store, Art Gallery Old Naples2, Random Acts of Art, Earth & Fire & Guess-Fisher Gallery. We are a professional artist community in Old Naples on the Bay, all within a one-block walk.
