Two Former Hostages to Share Their Unforgettable Stories in Naples
“Finding God in the Terror Tunnels of Gaza”
On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, Neapolitans will have a rare and powerful opportunity to hear firsthand from Sapir Cohen and Sasha Troufanov, two Israeli civilians who survived captivity in Hamas’ terror tunnels. The event, titled “Finding G-d in the Terror Tunnels of Gaza,” will take place at 7:30 PM at the Naples Grande, located at 475 Seagate Drive, Naples, FL.
Held under brutal conditions, Sapir Cohen was held hostage for 55 days, and Sasha Troufanov for 498 days in the underground tunnels of Gaza. Isolated from the world, enduring physical and psychological torment, both emerged with powerful testimonies of faith, strength, and survival. Their stories are not only harrowing accounts of what they endured, but reflections on discovering their faith and the resilience of the Jewish spirit in the darkest of places.
“This is more than a conversation, it’s a sacred opportunity to listen, to bear witness and to be moved,” said Rabbi Fishel Zaklos, founder and director of Chabad Jewish Center of Naples, who is organizing the event. “We will have the chance to let Sapir and Sasha know that throughout their ordeal, we never stopped praying for their freedom. When they were released, we celebrated like one does for a brother and sister returning home. Their presence here is a miracle and we very much look forward to the honor of welcoming them.”
General admission is $54, and tickets are available at www.chabadnaples.com/hostages. A VIP reception will precede the event at 6:30 PM.
Tickets and full event details are available at www.chabadnaples.com/hostages. Registration is required due to limited seating.
