THE FARM CITY BBQ Celebrates Relationships

by Garrett Richter, 2019 Farm City BBQ Chair

What does a truck driver, a rancher, a banker, and a biotechnologist have in common?

They all play an important role in making sure that Americans have access to a healthy and abundant supply of food, fiber, and natural resources.

For a community like Naples to thrive, it takes strong partnerships from agricultural leaders, business leaders,
and our government.

When I arrived in Naples 32 years ago, all the business leaders recommended that I attend the Farm City BBQ. From the first BBQ that I attended, I could see the passionate leaders taking the time to listen, learn and connect with each other to make Collier County stronger than ever.

Through the years, the BBQ has grown to attract nearly 3,000 members of our community to support our next generation of leaders.

In the past decade, the Farm City BBQ has raised over $500,000 to support these future leaders through the participating non-profit organizations.

Funding from this event has given essential support to help 4-H in its community-wide education and leadership efforts, provides tuition assistance to Youth Leadership Collier, assisted in the development of Collier County Junior
Deputies League Camp Discovery, and given scholarships to Key Club’s high school students to attend a leadership conference.

On November 27th, I invite you to join 3,000 of your closest friends for Collier County’s favorite holiday tradition that celebrates the relationships that make us stronger and invests in our future leaders.

When you go, look like a regular by wearing your blue jeans and your best cowboy hat. Bring a friend and a few extra dollars to purchase your bag of produce, fresh from local farms and participate in the raffle of prizes donated from area businesses including the Grand Prize – a Big Green Egg grill.
