Summer Entertainment at the Naples Players

Naples Players SummerThe Naples Players have a summer full of music and comedy in store for all to enjoy. The fun begins with Stage 2 Improv, performed in the Tobye Studio June 5 – 21 at Sugden Community Theatre on 5th Avenue South.

Now in its second year, Naples-based improvisational theatre group, Stage 2 Improv, is at it again creating scenes, songs and games driven by suggestions from the
audience. You may even be able to participate! Created on the spot, each show is uniquely hilarious unto itself.

Actors include Gina Balducci, Christy McLaughlin, Casey Debrowski, Judith Gangi Santos, Synthia DuBose, Mike Santos, Kat Ebaugh, Guy Glover, Rosie Spinosa and Steven Johnson. With tickets just $20 for adults and $10 for students 21 and under, Stage 2 Improv is an affordable, fun way to spend and evening on Fifth Avenue.

Then it’s on to music and more as The Naples Players present Gypsy by Arthur Laurents, Jule Styne and Stephen Sondeheim, June 27 through July 27 in Blackburn Hall at Sugden Community Theatre.

This classic American musical takes place in the dying days of vaudeville and tells the story of Momma Rose, the quintessential stage mother, and her obsessive determination to make her two daughters in to stars no matter the cost. Inspired by the memoirs of the burlesque dancer Gypsy Rose Lee, this entrancing musical boasts some of Broadway’s most famous melodies like “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” “Some People,” and “Let Me Entertain You.”
