Major Golf Course Renovation Wilderness Country Club Residents Support

Wilderness Country Club is pleased to announce its resident members have given the green light to proceed with plans for an extensive renovation of the club’s 18-hole, championship golf course.
Originally designed by the late Arthur Hills, the par 72 golf course opened more than 50 years ago and was last refurbished in 2015.
“Every element of the course will be renovated to some degree while preserving the natural beauty to make each round more memorable for golfers of all skill levels,” said Alan Raulerson, (Featured Photo) General Manager for Wilderness Country Club. “This project will ensure that Wilderness remains a top-tier venue in Southwest Florida and create a new level of interest in joining our club.”
The Golf Course Renovation Committee interviewed five highly regarded architects, each of whom has experience renovating Arthur Hills designed courses. After several rounds of discussions, the committee chose renowned golf course architect Bill Bergin of Bergin Golf Designs, which over three decades has completed more than 100 projects for private clubs, universities and municipalities in 28 states.
Given the lead time required to develop renovation plans, order materials, secure engineering details and permitting approvals, and identify the best available construction company, it is anticipated that the actual on-course work would not likely begin until early Spring 2028. It is further anticipated that all the work will be completed within one phase to minimize the disruption to members.
Nestled on 200 lush tropical acres along the east side of Goodlette-Frank Road just north of Golden Gate Parkway, Wilderness Country Club offers a relaxed country club lifestyle right in the heart of Naples.
Established in 1974, Wilderness Country Club is a groundbreaking residential development that holds the honor as the very first private, gated golf course community with a mandatory membership built in Naples. It is located just minutes from Fifth Avenue South, Waterside Shops and white sandy beaches.
In addition to its convenient location, Wilderness Country Club features a wide array of private club amenities, including a brand-new clubhouse. The two-story, 26,000-square-foot building features a beautiful Old Florida architectural style with panoramic views of the club’s championship golf course.
The state-of-the-art clubhouse opened just two years ago and is a hub of activity for social gatherings like wine tastings, private parties, card playing and other club member events. The interior of the building features an island inspired classic design by renowned interior designer Amanda Lindroth. The exterior is enhanced with landscape design by Fernando Wong Outdoor Living Design.
With just a total of 300 condominium residences, Wilderness Country Club caters to members who enjoy superb golf, tennis and dining facilities in a smaller, more intimate community. Many of the existing condominiums have been completely renovated for resale while others are like a blank canvas allowing purchasers to use their imagination and create a residence that suits their own unique needs.
Individual condominiums range from approximately 1,700 square feet to more than 3,000 square feet of living space and feature an abundance of glass that brings the striking beauty of nature inside. Each residence overlooks the Wilderness Country Club golf course and comes with its own dedicated golf cart and golf cart garage. There are no trail fees and golfers can ride or walk the course any time of day.
In addition to the 18-hole championship golf course, there is a well-equipped practice area where golfers of all skill levels can work on their game at the driving range, short-game area and putting green with personally tailored private lessons available from nationally award-winning PGA professionals.
Other sports amenities include four Har-Tru tennis courts expertly overseen by a nationally ranked tennis professional. The vibrant tennis program is complemented by an active POP Tennis program, a Bocce league and croquet with interclub competition. The Audubon certified community also features Frank Park with a dedicated Dog Park area for club members and their four-legged friends.
