I-Tech in Immokalee was the site for the recent CCPS Board Meeting

Erick Carter, Collier County Public School Board Member

For the first time, CCPS held its monthly board meeting at I-Tech in Immokalee. I was extremely impressed by the turn-out, not only from those who drove in from the Naples area, but also from the community of Immokalee, indeed a special place.

How wonderful to see our partners in education show up to introduce themselves to our new board members. Those partners include Naples Children and Education Foundation, Guadalupe Center, RCMA, Boys and Girls Club, The Immokalee Foundation, and The Benison Center. If it were not for our partners, CCPS would not have experienced such success. CCPS success equals students’ success. When our students succeed, we all succeed. I have always said a community is only as strong as its public school system. Thankfully, because of the hard work of our partners and our district, we have a strong community.

Your School Board has major tasks ahead of us. As we evaluate candidates for a new superintendent, it is extremely important that he or she understands the value of partnerships. The candidate must appreciate the hard-working staff at CCPS as well. We see the passion of our CCPS team, approximately 7200 employees, playing a major role in the success of our students. I am grateful for the role each of our partners and staff play. I look forward to what is ahead.
