HELP A DIABETIC CHILD FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES MATCHING GIFT PROGRAM

ALL DONATIONS WILL BE MATCHED DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR

Help a Diabetic Child Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping families and individuals who are dealing with diabetes, announced that all donations through June 7 th will be matched dollar for dollar thanks to an anonymous donor, allowing all gifts to go twice as far for children in need in these challenging times.

“It is our goal, especially during the devastating COVID-19 pandemic, that nobody in need will go without their life saving insulin and diabetes medical supplies,” said Tami Balavage, Founder/President for Help A Diabetic Child Foundation. “If there has ever been a time to provide diabetic medical supplies and insulin for children it is now.” To join the challenge and make a tax deductible gift, visit www.helpadiabeticchild.org or mail a check to: Help a Diabetic Child Foundation, P.O. Box 110161, Naples, FL 34108.

Based in Naples, the Help A Diabetic Child Foundation was founded by Balavage after her 16-year-old son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2010. It quickly became evident that there was a significant number of children who were unable to get adequate supplies for blood glucose testing, something that must be done multiple times daily. In 2018, the Help A Diabetic Child Foundation expanded services to Volusia County.

This enabled the agency to provide testing supplies and insulin for local children struggling with Type 1 diabetes in that area. The move was aided by a $10,000 donation by the Lohman family, founders of the former Lohman Funeral Homes in Ormand Beach. Statistics show that the number of Americans being diagnosed with diabetes continues to rise at alarming rates. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) reports that almost

10% of the population has diabetes, while another 8 million are undiagnosed. In addition, the ADA reports that 86 million Americans over the age of 20 years have pre-diabetes. To learn more about the Help A Diabetic Child Foundation or to support its mission of providing life-saving supplies and services, visit online at www.helpadiabeticchild.org
