December 2015 Art After Dark
It’s December and we’re in the midst of the Holiday Season in Southwest Florida. We get to enjoy much nicer weather than most of the rest of the United States and have a number of unique shops with a variety of gift items that go beyond the typical. When “on the search” for that special gift, keep in mind the Galleries of Crayton Cove and the many family owned businesses in Old Naples. They offer numerous unique items to choose from, many are hand-made by artists from the Naples area. Purchasing from these small businesses helps support our community in a strong way.
A sampling of their works can be found hanging in the lobby of the Cove Inn, adding to the waterside ambience of this historic Inn.
Along with the Holiday decorations up in Naples, you may notice about 50 colorfully embellished Sea Turtle Sculptures scattered around town in various locations for all to appreciate and view until March when they are auctioned off to help raise funds for charitable groups; United Arts Council, The Conservancy of SWFL and The Community Foundation.
These turtles were painted and embellished by artists here in our community to help these charities. Here in Crayton Cove, artists Phil Fisher and Natalie Guess were two of the many artists that participated in this fundraising event with the hopes that Naples strongly supports this event and its charities.
December 12 will be a festive evening down by the City Dock. The “Naples Holiday Boat Parade” will be that night starting at 6:15 p.m., as well as “Art After Dark,” which is from 6-9 p.m. where the public is invited to stroll the galleries and enjoy viewing some of our artists newest works and unique smaller works of art available for the season, while listening to live music performed by local talents. Jeff Fessenden & Friends will be in the Phil Fisher Gallery and Acoustically Speaking will be at Nora Butler Design. Random Acts of Art will be offering a special tasting with artistic gift ideas involved.
Along with these three, The Galleries of Crayton Cove include Vintage Charm; A European Style Gallery, Earth & Fire; A Pottery Studio and Educational Facility, Naples Ships Store; Unique Locally-Made Nautical Items and Guess-Fisher Gallery; A Batik Studio offering Picture Framing and Hand-Made Artistic Gift Items. We are a professional artist community in Old Naples by the Bay, all within a one-block walk, located near the flagpole where 8th St. S. and 12th Ave. S. meet.
