Crayton Cove

Once again the season has come and gone quickly. Now that we are heading into May, June and July, hopefully, we are taking advantage of the time to enjoy this spot of paradise we live in. May is Naples History month with various events celebrating our history happening throughout the city. June and July tend to be less active months, except for the rain and the 4th of July fireworks.

Fulltime residents tend to travel mid- to late summer to experience areas that offer something different, but May is still quite active all over downtown. City Fest takes place the second week in May and Crayton Cove launches its 42nd historic Great Dock Canoe Race from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., May 12. The public has a new Naples City Dock to stand upon and watch the race from during the day and then, as evening falls, Art after Dark kicks into gear in the Galleries of Crayton Cove from 6 to 9 p.m.

As always, this area by the bay is a great place to stroll and enjoy a fun evening. Stop in at the Phil Fisher Gallery and enjoy live music by Jeff Fessenden & Alchemy, while viewing some of the newest oils and watercolors by Phil Fisher, batiks and pottery by Natalie Guess, as well as pet portraits by Tianna Fisher, photographs by Nolen Fisher and knife paintings in oil by Jan Ellen Atkielski.

Random Acts of Art is open and welcomes the public to visually experience works by a number of artists and craftsmen represented there. This is the last Art after Dark of the season, but the galleries are open all summer, with shorter hours. Come and experience Crayton Cove when the lines are shorter at the restaurants and parking is easier.

Crayton Cove, the best of historic Old Naples, is located at the intersection of 8th Street, S. & 12th Avenue, S., by the flagpole at Naples Bay, and all galleries are within a one-block walk.
