This heartfelt donation reflects the Beynon Family’s commitment to giving back to the communities that molded them. Bill Beynon, a Weirton native, and his wife Nena, originally from Grafton, WV, credit their upbringing in the Mountain State for instilling the character values of hard work, generosity and community service that guide their family today.
Of the total $100,000 gift, $50,000 will go directly toward providing holiday food baskets for families in need in Weirton, ensuring that hundreds of local households will be able to share in the warmth and comfort of a holiday meal. The remaining $50,000 will support Community Bread Basket’s broader mission of addressing food insecurity throughout the Northern Panhandle.
“Although we have lived in Southwest Florida for nearly 30 years, West Virginia will always be home,” said Bill Beynon. “The communities of Weirton and Grafton shaped who we are today. This gift is simply our way of giving thanks and paying it forward.”
The Beynons also expressed hope that their donation would inspire others to act. “We encourage everyone who can to lend a hand,” said Nena Beynon. “Even the smallest gesture can make a big difference. Together, we can ensure that no family in the area goes
without this holiday season.
The Community Bread Basket, which has served the needs of residents in the region for decades, expressed deep appreciation for the donation and the powerful message it sends. “Bill and Nena’s generosity is a testament to the enduring spirit of West Virginia,” said a spokesperson for the organization. “They remind us all that no matter where life takes you, giving back to your roots is one of the most meaningful things you can do.”
As a non-profit organization, the Community Bread Basket depends heavily on community support to carry out its mission and encourages others to join in supporting its holiday programs and year-round services for those in need.
