Artis-Naples Warms Up With Winter Programming

Artis—Naples audiences have a lot to look forward to this winter on both the visual and performing arts fronts, with something for every artistic taste.

Presentations return to Hayes Hall beginning in January, including the ever-popular Piano Talk series with the esteemed local artist Jodie DeSalvo. Jodie brings her unique blend of insight and humor to classical and popular music in four programs between January and March, including her annual collaboration with Naples Philharmonic Concertmaster Glenn Basham on January 27 and 28.

Other Hayes Hall presentation highlights include The Petty Breakers tribute to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on January 9, Tusk – The Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute Bandon January 12, and The Queen’s Cartoonists and their madcap accompaniments to classic and contemporary cartoons on January 14.

Later in the winter, legendary folk and pop group The Kingston Trio performs four concerts over two nights on February 26 and 27.

The Naples Philharmonic returns to a socially distanced Hayes Hall for two classical and two pops programs in February and March, including the return of Music Director Andrey Boreyko to Hayes Hall for two performances with the Naples Philharmonic featuring Naples Philharmonic Assistant Principal Trumpet Ansel Norris on March 5 and 6.

“We could not be more delighted to welcome Andrey back to Hayes Hall,” van Bergen said. “We have missed him, and we look forward to having him back on the podium for these very special concerts.”

Another classical program on February 5 and 6 will feature renowned Russian pianist Vladimir Feltsman performing Mozart’s C Minor piano concerto in a concert conducted by Naples Philharmonic Associate Conductor Radu Paponiu.

In other winter highlights, Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly returns with Jack’s Hollywood Favorites, a program with the Naples Philharmonic performing a variety of Hollywood hits and featuring Naples Philharmonic musicians as soloists on February 19 and 20.

The Naples Philharmonic will be joined by talented singer and pianist Tony DeSare for Sinatra & Beyond on March 12 and 13 conducted by Radu Paponiu.

The Naples Philharmonic Jazz Orchestra and the All That Jazz Series will liven up Hayes Hall, with guests including renowned alto saxophonist Vincent Herring on January 20 and rising guitar star Pasquale Grasso on February 10.

The Baker Museum, celebrating its 20th anniversary, currently features four stellar exhibitions including Dreaming Forms: Chihuly Then and Now, the third major Chihuly exhibition in the history of The Baker Museum, through February 28, 2021. Rodin: Truth Form Life, on view through April 4, 2021, showcases Auguste Rodin’s revolutionary contributions to the development of modern sculpture. Subject Matters, on view through July 2021,is drawn from The Baker Museum’s permanent collection and addresses subject matters commonly found in visual arts, including the Human Figure, the Home, Landscapes and Nonfigurative Abstraction. Magritte: Reflections of Another World, also on view through July 2021 comprises six paintings by Belgian artist René Magritte painted between 1932 and 1956 that are on a five-year loan to Artis—Naples and have never previously been shown in North America.
