ARTIS-NAPLES 2024-25 Season Shifts Into High Gear
2024-25 Season Shifts Into High Gear Celebrating a Season of Storytelling in November
As November arrives and snowbirds return to Southwest Florida, Artis—Naples shifts its 2024-25 season into high gear with a lineup of inspiring exhibitions, performances and lectures. Celebrating a season of Storytelling, Artis—Naples remains the premier destination for visual and performing arts in Southwest Florida, offering a diverse array of cultural experiences.
While some may consider the Naples International Film Festival, held in late October, to be the unofficial start of the Artis—Naples season, November brings a full calendar of vibrant art exhibitions, exciting musical events and more. Alexander Shelley commences his first season as artistic and music director of Artis—Naples with a Naples Philharmonic Masterworks program on November 1-2 featuring Mussorgsky’s vivid masterpiece Pictures at an Exhibition. The Pops series follows with Celebrating Gershwin, November 5-9, as principal pops conductor Jack Everly and pianist Lee Musiker close out our annual celebration of George Gershwin with a tribute to his enduring legacy. Later in the month, the orchestra performs a second Masterworks program on November 14 and 16, featuring Rachmaninoff ’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with guest conductor Joana Carneiro on the podium and pianist Yeol Eum Son, who also performs in the November 17 Wang Chamber Music program, on piano.
Other musical highlights in November include Mariachi Herencia de México on November 3, the acclaimed Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with artistic partner, Finnish conductor and cellist Klaus Mäkelä on November 20, Amy Grant on November 22 and a special tribute to Tina Turner featuring Tony Award winner Adrienne Warren (Featured Photo) and the Naples Philharmonic on November 24.
As always, the multidisciplinary offerings of Artis—Naples extend beyond performances as The Baker Museum hosts three ongoing exhibitions: Becky Suss: The Dutch House (through January 5), Florida Contemporary 2024-25 (through June 29) and Alex Katz: Theater and Dance (through February 2). And for those interested in Katz’s work, a special lecture by Kevin Lotery, Ph.D., assistant professor of modern and contemporary art at Boston College, takes place on November 8, offering deeper insights into the artist’s remarkable contributions to modern dance.
