Very often a kitchen design is driven by one or two important and domineering factors. In this case the owners of this new construction home had very specific ideas as to the appliances that will suit their lifestyle.
Our job was to create a design that included them while also paying attention to the storage needs that are required. Not such an easy task when there is only so much lineal footage in any given kitchen and especially since the appliances have their own space demands and those demands come first.
Let’s look at what we have in this kitchen shown in the photo on the adjoining page. To the right of the photo, you will see a tall wine cooler which is able to refrigerate at dual temperatures over 100 bottles of wine. What you can’t see clearly is that this appliance is flanked by twin 36” wide refrigeration units that are covered in wood to match the Agreeable Grey semi-gloss cabinetry. These give the homeowners six lineal feet of refrigeration in addition to the pantry and coffee center which both have their own under counter refrigeration.
On the back wall the feature is the unique custom hood which we had built to our specifications. The hood itself was banded in stainless steel and filled in with Rift Cut Oak and a faux finish to match the island cabinetry which is a textured melamine product in the Arctic Fox finish.
On the right you will see the dual ovens built into the tall cabinet with a warming drawer directly below them. To the left of that is a microwave drawer below the countertop. Ovens, warming drawer, and microwave all together in one area make it easy for the cook(s) to produce a large family dinner at any time.
In addition, this kitchen has a flush to the countertop 36” five burner cooktop with the dishwasher, waste, recycle, and sink on the island. Note the extra thick countertop and the waterfall edge on one side of the island. In the end we have a very successful design which has all the desired appliances and still more than enough storage solutions for any family.
