an ARTIST’s perception by Phil Fisher and Natalie Guess
We are just getting past the holidays where many of us spent time with family and friends, creating many memories that we will hold onto for years to come. Paintings can capture memories in a way that we can see and relive them every day, if we want. As the artists who create these memories, it’s a privilege to have been able to do this for a number of years, and will, for years to come. We have visited and lived in Naples since the late 1960’s and, at this point, much of it seems like a dream. Our paintings have reminded us of the many images we have seen through the years. Pieces get sold to the original purchaser for good reasons and, then, come into the secondary market and fulfill a new need. As Phil said when he heard about his artwork in a secondhand store, “When an artist lives long enough, these things happen, so I guess I’ve reached that plateau! I’m grateful for every day and every friend and family member!
If I’m fortunate enough to live to 100 years old, I’ll live every day with purpose and kindness sprinkled with love! It’s the only way and that’s what I believe!” Most of Phil’s paintings exude that joy and happiness in them with the colors he uses.
On January 8, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m., we will be hosting a show opening titled “Gulf Breeze” and participating in the Naples Design District Block Bash. Get the chance to meet the artists that create the paintings! Feel free to stop by and sign up for a palette knife oil painting workshop with Jan Ellen Atkielski, a master of this technique. The workshop is scheduled for January 19 – 20, 9:00 to 3:30, Guess-Fisher Gallery, 985 Central Avenue, Call 239-659-2787.
Phil Fisher can be found at his easel Guess-Fisher Gallery in the heart of the Naples Design District.
