ADRIA D. STARKEY NAMED HONORARY CHAIR OF THE PARKINSON’S ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHWEST FLORIDA’S , A STEP FORWARD – OVERCOMING OBSTACLES FUNDRAISER

The Parkinson’s Association of Southwest Florida (PASWFL) announced today that Collier County President for FineMark National Bank and Trust, Adria D. Starkey, accepted its invitation to serve as the Honorary Chair of their signature fundraiser, A Step Forward – Overcoming Obstacles. The event is scheduled to be held at The Ritz-Carlton, 280 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples, Florida, 34108 on March 31, 2023, at11:30 am and includes keynote speaker Pete Hegseth, co-anchor of FOX & Friends Weekends.

“We are grateful to Adria for joining us to help our friends, neighbors, and family members in Southwest Florida to live well with PD,” said Bill Morgan, PASWFL Board Chair. “We are honored that she is including this role – which supports those in Collier and Lee Counties diagnosed with PD – in her exemplary body of community service.”

Starkey’s community involvement is extensive. She is serving her third term on the Florida Prepaid College Board, and serves as Vice Chair, a position appointed by the governor. Starkey is the Chair of the Healthcare Network Development and Community Awareness Committee, and she serves on the Gulfshore Life Advisory Board. She is a Vice President and Board member for the Suncoast Chapter of the International Women’s Forum and serves on the Board of the Forum Club of SWFL.  Starkey is a Lifetime Trustee of the Naples Children and Education Foundation. She Co-Chaired the 2014 Naples Winter Wine Festival and served on the Grant Committee of that organization for four years. Starkey serves as the Chair of the Advisory Board for the school of Entrepreneurship at FGCU and served as a mentor for Champions for Learning. Starkey is an Emeritus Trustee of The Shelter for Abused Women and Children and chaired that Board for two years. She was a founding member of Girls Inc., which developed into the Boys and Girls Club of Collier County. Past Directorships also include Artis Naples, the University of Florida Harn Museum, EDC (Economic Development Council of Collier County), The Education Foundation, and the Community School of Naples.

In 2000, Starkey was named Woman of the Year by Gulfshore Life Magazine and Woman of Achievement by The Community Foundation. In 2008, she received the Edison College Leadership in Fostering Education Award, and in 2013 was awarded a Glass Slipper for her commitment to Education by the Champions for Learning organization. Starkey was recognized in the Naples Daily News, 25 Over 50, and inducted into the Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida’s 2018 Business Hall of Fame, Collier County. Florida Trend magazine named Starkey as one of the state’s most influential business leaders in 2021. Naples Illustrated also named Starkey as one of The Naples 100, along with one of Collier County’s most influential business leaders in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

PASWFL presents the event to raise funds for the programs and services they offer to the nearly 7,000 people in Collier and Southern Lee County with Parkinson’s Disease, and their care partners. Registration is $300 and includes lunch and Mr. Hegseth’s presentation. VIP registration is $500 and includes a luncheon, presentation, and an invitation to a private pre-lunch VIP reception with Pete Hegseth.

For more than twenty-five years, PASWFL has provided front-line evidence-based, effective programs and services that improve the quality of life and educate, enrich, and empower our community members affected by PD and related neurological diseases. Each week the PAWSFL offers more than 20 programs and support groups free of charge for members with PD and their care partners in addition to the greater SWFL community.
