2025: A Year In Review by Representative Byron Donalds
It is the honor of a lifetime to serve as the Congressman representing our Southwest Florida community on Capitol Hill. For years we were forced to endure the autopen presidency of Joe Biden. Far-left, unelected bureaucrats put their own thirst for power over the best interests of the American people. Foreign invaders and anti-American illegal aliens were prioritized while our nation suffered an unnecessary, unforgiveable, and debilitating decline at the hands of the Biden administration.
Under the leadership of President Trump, we are taking our country back, prioritizing the American people, Making America Great Again for all Americans, and my office is fighting for you. Over the past year, we have returned $10,704,915.00 to Southwest Floridians, solved 866 constituent cases, cosponsored 183 bills, introduced 21 pieces of legislation, secured house passage of 3 pieces of legislation, and secured the codification of critical disaster relief legislation into federal law that directly affects our community. See below for some of our office’s accomplishments over the past year:
Disaster Relief
Donalds bill to expedite the distribution of federal disaster relief following official fishery disaster declarations, H.R. 5103 – “The Bipartisan FISHES Act” was signed into law by the President of the United States on January 4, 2025.
American Space Dominance
Donalds-led bicameral coalition secured the approvals to slash bureaucratic red-tape and reopen the historic Cape Canaveral Space Launch Center 37 heavy lift launch pad to construction and modernization projects.
Everglades Restoration
Worked to secure the largest presidential budget recommendation for Everglades restoration in American history ($446 Million) to ensure important projects like the EAA Reservoir and freshwater flow reconnections are completed.
Working Families Tax Cut
Donalds-led effort bridged the gap between the Freedom Caucus and White House to secure passage of H.R. 1 – “The One Big Beautiful Bill” and championed the inclusion of critical School Choice and No Tax on Tips provisions into the legislation. This bill included the largest investment in border security and immigration enforcement funding in a generation and has directly bolstered President Trump’s ongoing mass deportation operations.
Revamping FEMA
Donalds-led bill to remove FEMA from the bureaucratic labyrinth of DHS and re-designate it to a cabinet-level agency, with a Senate confirmed director, H.R. 2308 – “FEMA Independence Act” was included in House FEMA reauthorization bill that will be voted-on by the House of Representatives in the new year.
Defending Our Southwest Florida Community
Successfully fought to block the City of Naples from holding a sexually-explicit drag show next to the children’s playground at Cambier Park. In addition, Rep. Donalds successfully urged the City Council of Fort Myers to block proposed sanctuary jurisdiction policies that would put innocent Floridians at risk.
Protecting Florida Farmers
Worked alongside the Department of Commerce and Trump administration officials to put Florida Farmers First and stop Mexican tomato exporters from unfairly dumping their product into the United States.
Securing Accountability for Hurricane Victims
Co-led the effort that pressured FEMA into terminating the employees that weaponized the disaster responses to Hurricanes Helene and Milton against Trump-Vance-supporting Floridians.
Making Our Nation’s Capital Safe Again
Donalds-led bill to close the loophole that allows 18-24 year-old adult criminals in our nation’s capital to be sentenced as juveniles, H.R. 4922 – “The DC CRIMES Act” was passed by the House of Representatives on September 17, 2025.
Prioritizing National Security
Donalds-led bill to evaluate national security risks and affordability considerations in federal procurement, H.R. 856 – “The Safe and Smart Federal Purchasing Act” was passed by the House of Representatives on March 3, 2025.
