The Naples Children & Education Foundation (NCEF), founders of the Naples Winter Wine Festival (NWWF),today announced it will recognize legendary Bordeaux estate owner Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, Chairman and CEO of Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA, as its Honored Vintner at the 23rd annual Naples Winter Wine Festival on February 3-5, 2023.
The son of Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and the famous actor Jacques Sereys, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild is head of the family company, which spans three Pauillac classified growths including Château Mouton Rothschild, a First Growth, as well as celebrated brands such as Mouton Cadet. Château Mouton Rothschild thus completes the set of Bordeaux First Growths that have taken part in the Naples Winter Wine Festival since its creation in 2001, following on from Château Haut-Brion, Château Latour, Château Margaux and Château Lafite Rothschild.
As the Festival’s Honored Vintner, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild will be recognized for his many contributions to the wine industry and help set the stage for a weekend of one-of-a-kind wine and culinary experiences alongside an impressive line-up of internationally acclaimed vintners, chefs and featured sommeliers hailing from more than half-a-dozen different countries.
Philippe Sereys de Rothschild will also be this year’s vintner at The Vintage Cellar wine-tasting and luncheon on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Bleu Provence. This exclusive pre-festival event is separate from the NWWF, with attendance limited to 40 people. Tickets cost $3,500 per person.
“I am truly delighted to be recognized as this year’s Honored Vintner,” said Philippe Sereys de Rothschild. “The Naples Winter Wine Festival has evolved into one of the premier charity wine auctions around the world and I look forward to participating in the success of this iconic event.”
Along with Château Mouton Rothschild, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild is the owner, with his siblings Camille Sereys de Rothschild and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild, of two other classified growths at Pauillac in the Medoc:Château d’Armailhac and Château Clerc Milon. He played a leading role in the creation of Barons de Rothschild Champagnes and chairs the company which oversees the business, in which he represents the family shareholders. He also serves as President of the Philippine de Rothschild Corporate Foundation, which honors the memory of their mother.
“Philippe Sereys de Rothschild has sustained a powerful legacy for a legendary wine producing family and has served in a leadership role in the industry for many years,” said Bill Cary, NCEF Trustee and Vintner Committee Chair. “His participation as our Honored Vintner underscores the planning that is underway to present a Naples Winter Wine Festival that is more exhilarating than ever before.”
With the theme “In Perfect Harmony,” the 2023 Naples Winter Wine Festival returns to The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples, showcasing the finest wines, exquisite cuisine and incredible auction lots to benefit children in need in Collier County. This year’s event will be led by dedicated Festival Co-Chairs Nena and Bill Beynon, Libby and Rick Germain, and Julia and Robert Heidt, Jr.
Festival guests will once again join in this charitable mission in 2023 as they bid on incredible, one-of-a-kind experiences during the famed live auction, part of a weekend that will also feature celebrated names in food and wine from around the world.
