“Third on Canvas” benefited two local charities

Each year, artists from across the country paint “en plein air” for the “Third on Canvas” event lining their easels throughout Third Street South and the Old Naples Historic District. Finished paintings are auctioned off at the end of their two days of painting with proceeds from the annual event being donated to selected local non-profits.

This year, Friends of Foster Children Forever (FFCF) and Golden PAWS Assistance Dogs were the recipients of the proceeds. The art auction was held on February 21 at the Naples Beach Hotel where guests enjoyed wine and hors d’oeuvres while bidding on their favorite one-of-a-kind paintings as auctioneer Sara Rose Bytnar of Scott Robertson Auctioneers conducted the lively auction.

The event is made possible each year by the Third Street South Merchant Association. FFCF and Golden PAWS have worked together for the past several years to help make the event a success. The FFCF mission is to focus on the children they serve by providing targeted educational and enrichment opportunities that allow each child to fulfill his or her potential. The charitable organization works to fulfill the unmet needs of every child who enters or, is at risk of entering the foster care system in Collier, Hendry and Glades Counties.

PAWS Assistance Dogs provides highly skilled service or assistance dogs to combat wounded Veterans and children with life-changing disabilities.
