STARability Foundation RAISES OVER $75,000 AT RECORD-BREAKING 3K/5K RUN, WALK AND ROLL

Nearly 370 participants came out to run, walk, and roll for STARability’s 5th Annual 3K/5K.

Nearly 370 participants came out to run, walk and roll in STARability Foundation’s 5th Annual 3K/5K. As a new race option this year, 70 runners participated in a 5K timed by Florida Race Day.

STARability raised $75,791, making it the most successful race to date. Funds will be used to expand innovative programs and services that shine light on ability, not disability and meet increasing community needs.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who attended and helped make this event possible,” said Karen Govern, CEO of STARability Foundation. “We could not have surpassed our $75,000 fundraising goal without the support of our community. This family- and pet-friendly inclusive event for all ages and abilities is a true representation of our mission. Witnessing the sense of accomplishment and pure happiness as our STARs cross the finish line is absolutely priceless and inspiring.”

For nearly four decades, STARability Foundation has been shining a light on abilities, not disabilities. Formed by a small community of caring parents, STARability has become one of Southwest Florida’s leading nonprofits. Today, the organization is opening a world of possibilities for hundreds of individuals ages 14 and older by offering a variety of inclusive programs focused on vocational training, continuing education, teamwork, social engagement and community involvement.

Their compassionate team supports people with disabilities by providing life-transforming opportunities that emphasize teamwork and a connection to the community while strengthening awareness and respect for individual abilities.
