New Children’s Book Focuses on Local Philanthropists Jay & Patty Baker – Raises Money for Nonprofits

The Bakers by the Sea, a new children’s book inspired by Naples philanthropists Patty and Jay Baker and written by locals Bryce and Katie Alexander, is bringing its uplifting message of generosity and community to families across Southwest Florida and beyond. With vibrant illustrations and a heartwarming story, the book is already making waves as both a delightful read for children and a powerful reminder of the importance of giving back.

The Naples Players (TNP) recently announced a special initiative providing hundreds of copies of The Bakers by the Sea to local nonprofit organizations, who will sell the books. All proceeds will directly benefit the nonprofit where each book is purchased. The book also has its own dedicated site, thebakersbythesea.com, where readers can learn more about its story, impact, and availability.

Participating partners include The Baker Museum at Artis—Naples, The Naples Players, Gulfshore Playhouse, NCH (Naples Comprehensive Health), Baker Senior Center, the Jay & Patty Baker Preschool of the Arts, and the Patty Baker Humane Society.

To celebrate its release, Patty and Jay Baker will host a book signing at Barnes & Noble Naples on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Families, fans, and community members are invited to meet the Bakers, hear more about the inspiration behind the book, and have their copies personally signed. Books will be available for purchase, and a portion of the day’s proceeds will go to The Naples Players.

“The Bakers by the Sea is more than just a children’s story,” said author Bryce Alexander, CEO & Executive Artistic Director of The Naples Players. “It’s about how generosity shapes lives and how giving back builds stronger, kinder communities. We wrote this for our own son, Ellis, and hope it inspires families everywhere to talk about the joy of helping others.”

Illustrated with a whimsical seaside charm by Brittany Sundgren, the book follows a little boy Ellis, as he discovers the beauty of sharing and community stewardship through his friends Patty & Jay Baker. Its themes resonate with children and adults alike, reinforcing the values of kindness, philanthropy, and belonging.

Copies of the book are available online at thebakersbythesea.com and at select nonprofits. Every purchase supports a local nonprofit, ensuring that the book’s message of generosity translates into real-world impact.
