Neapolitan Chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America is hosting an Event

The Art of Needlework

The Neapolitan Chapter of the Embroiderer’s Guild of America (EGA) is hosting its biennial exhibit “The Art of Needlework” on Wednesday March 4, through Friday March 6, 2020.  The Exhibit has moved to the Community Room of the Naples Daily News, 1100 Immokalee Road, Naples, FL 34110.

EGA is a national, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the study and preservation of the art of embroidery.  The Neapolitan chapter works toward this goal through classes and workshops aiming to broaden and improve the members needlework skills from beginner through advanced.  More information can be found on our website at www.embroiderynaples.org.  As the outreach commitment, the Neapolitan Chapter provides a hand stitched sampler to each new Habitat for Humanity homeowner.

Items being exhibited include canvas work, surface embroidery, stump work, smocking and bead embroidery.  Also illustrated are various techniques of thread painting, drawn thread, gold work, Japanese embroidery, Hardanger and counted cross stitch.  Experienced stitchers will demonstrate needlework techniques during the three days.  In addition, there will be an onsite Boutique offering handmade items for purchase.  As well, there will be three hand worked items visitors can hope to take home after the drawing at the close of the Exhibit.
