Explore, Discover and Learn: Rookery Bay Marine Science Summer Camp for Teens
For students in 7-10th grades with a passion for the ocean and marine life, Rookery Bay Research Reserve’s Marine Science Summer Camp is the perfect opportunity to dive into the world of marine biology.
The camp offers an immersive learning experience where students work alongside real scientists, conduct experiments in labs, explore the coastal ecosystem and learn about the waters, wildlife and plants that call Rookery Bay home.
Unlike traditional classroom learning, Rookery Bay’s marine science camp allows teens to see science in action. Marine biologists and environmental researchers guide students through hands-on activities, teach them how to collect data, analyze results and think critically about environmental issues. This direct mentorship helps students gain a deeper understanding of marine science while also introducing them to potential careers in the field.
At the heart of the camp is lab work, where students get to study plankton under microscopes, test water quality and examine fish and invertebrates up close. Teens also learn about the wide variety of species that inhabit Southwest Florida’s coastal waters from tiny crabs and endangered shorebirds to manatees and sea turtles.
Attending Rookery Bay’s Marine Science Summer Camp is an unforgettable experience that combines education, adventure and discovery. Teens engage with nature, work with real scientists and develop a lifelong passion for marine conservation.
