It was a night of cowboy boots, hats and western attire at the 8th Annual Boots and Boogie Bash held on March 21.

The sold-out fundraiser, held at Grey Oaks Country Club, benefitted the Friends of Foster Children of Southwest Florida (FFC). Guests enjoyed cocktails, a silent auction and a chance to make dreams come true in the “Corral of Dreams” where foster children had written their simple dreams on paper cutouts of boots. Dreams ranged from bicycles to ballet lessons and everything in between.

Entertainment for the night began with dancers from PZAZZ Productions performing several choreographed numbers. Guests then joined them on the dance floor to enjoy the sounds of the Brett Foreman Band. After an elegant dinner, Auctioneer Scott Robertson got the live auction portion of the evening underway. He was accompanied by celebrity emcee and ABC-7 anchor, Krista Fogelsong.

Jackie and Chris Sereno, owners of M Waterfront Grille and the 2015 Boots and Boogie Bash honorary chairs, helped to make the night a success along with major sponsors Arthrex, Children’s Network, Home-Tech, M Waterfront Grille, NADC, and NEST International.

This year’s focus for the evening was the importance of education and one-on-one tutoring. Because foster children are moved from home to home and change schools many times throughout their childhood, their grades often suffer. FFC believes that education is the key for a child’s brighter future.

The $153,000 net proceeds from the event will fund the needs of local foster children and help fulfill the FFC mission.

The mission of Friends of Foster Children is to focus on the children they serve by providing targeted educational and enrichment opportunities that allow each child to fulfill their potential. FFC, a 501(c) (3) charitable organization, works to fulfill the unmet needs of every child who enters, or is at risk of entering the foster care system in Southwest Florida. FFC will follow the child wherever they are placed.
