Avow Receives $35,000 Grant for Non-Hospice Palliative Care in Collier County

Avow is humbled by the support of The Stranahan Foundation’s investment of $35,000 to ensure the uninterrupted care of hundreds of patients with serious illness in Southwest Florida.

Soukup Strategic Solutions is proud to collaborate with Avow to secure grant funding for their essential programming benefiting Collier County, including palliative care. The years-long partnership has raised critical funding for various projects, services, and operations. The Soukup team values Avow’s work in the community and feel privileged to support them in their fundraising endeavors.

In challenging times palliative care has a meaningful impact on the lives of both patients and their families. By managing symptoms, controlling pain, and offering emotional support, palliative care creates an environment where individuals can find comfort and dignity while enduring chronic and life-limiting illnesses.

The profound and meaningful impact of palliative care on families is a testament to the importance of this specialized form of healthcare. The interdisciplinary team addresses the physical, psychological, emotional, and existential pain and symptoms caused by treatments or the illness itself. It not only improves the quality of life for patients but also provides a crucial support system for their families, fostering an environment of compassion, understanding, and comfort.

Avow has been treating chronic and seriously ill people through non-hospice palliative care since 2003.Avow’spalliative care program has gone through rigorous reviews and examinations to receive Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP) certification, which evaluates Avow’s services against nationally recognized palliative care standards. Avow’s Palliative Care program is the only palliative care program in Florida to be certified by CHAP. While the Avow team uses state-of-the-art software, tools, and techniques, they never take their focus off the empathetic, heart-centered nature of their work. “I cried happy tears during my first appointment, because it was the first time, I felt like someone truly understood me,” says Kristen, a palliative care patient at Avow. “It’s hard when you feel defeated in life. But then you meet a few people like the palliative care team at Avow. They understand what you’re going through, and they want to know how you’re doing today so they can help you better your tomorrow.”
