lead brings us closer to a world where women everywhere have the knowledge, resources and
care they need to thrive.

Local Leadership Matters
We are honored to have Jennifer Johnson and Sue Ryan as co-chairs for the 2026 SWFL Go
Red for Women campaign. Their passion and commitment are helping drive this movement
forward, ensuring that women in our community have the tools and support they need to live,
longer, healthier lives.

Why This Matters

Stroke is the No. 3 cause of death in women.
1 in 5 women will have a stroke in their lifetime.
Women are more likely to have a stroke than men. In 2019, stroke accounted for 6.2% of
all female deaths, compared to 4.4% for men.
Women with ischemic stroke are less likely to receive prompt emergency care and
treatment, and are more likely to die within 30 days of hospitalization.

How Go Red for Women is Making a Difference

Through education, advocacy and research, we are creating a future where women
everywhere can thrive. Together, with the leadership of our co-chairs and the support of our
community, we can continue to save lives and inspire change.
