                            TRADITIONS

’m always ambivalent about the time change that happens in the
fall. I love the extra hour of sleep, especially that first week. I swear
Imy coffee tastes better with an extra hour of sleep! But the trade-
off of the early darkness in the evening takes some getting used to.
Although I know it’s coming, those first few evenings when dinner time
feels like bedtime surprise me every year.
The shorter days often catch many drivers by surprise this time of
year too. Kids walking or biking home from after-school sports and clubs
can be tough to see, especially after dusk. Youth may not realize they are
harder to see, so we need to be extra alert when driving in the evening.
All of us who enjoy an after-dinner walk or bike ride in this glorious
weather need to be sure we are visible too. After dark, it’s wise to wear
a white or fluorescent-colored shirt and socks. Dark-colored clothing join me at Eagle Lakes Community Park on Sunday, November 28th.
