after art dark
N aples has become quite the arts destination after many years of
support by those interested in the arts, as well as artists residing
in the Naples area, full or part-time. There are numerous local arts
groups. This year marks the 50th anniversary for the Naples Art
Crafters, an active local art group hosting outdoor shows in Cambier Park
for years. The United Arts Council sponsors “Celebrate The Arts” during the
month of November annually. This gives Naples and its surrounding area a
chance to focus on the exquisite arts offerings this month and a peek into
what is being offered the rest of the season. A number of the local publications
come out with a listing of the events taking place during the year as a way of
participating in this important aspect of our community.
As Southwest Florida continues to grow, the arts in Naples have become
more important, which is great,as it helps our community grow into a culturally
rich environment. Celebrate this month with us and enjoy some arts events,
both visual and performing and experience why they are so important for our
community and economic stability.
When visiting Old Naples, be sure and stop by the Galleries of Crayton
Cove, a professional artist community by the Bay, all within a one-block walk,
where 8th Street South and 12th Avenue South meet by the flagpole. They
also host a monthly event called “Art After Dark” where the public is invited
to stroll the galleries and studios, viewing the art, while listening to live music.
This happens the second Saturday of each month during season, the one this
month being Saturday November 12, from 6 -9 p.m.The participating galleries
are Phil Fisher Gallery & Studio, Nora Butler Design & Gallery, Random
Acts of Art, Earth & Fire, Vintage Charm, Naples Ships Store, 24/7 Cove Inn
Lobby and Guess-Fisher Gallery. They represent art works by more than 30
artists with new work being created daily!
