NCH Healthcare System Pitches in to Offer Hundreds of Choking Rescue Devices to Collier Restaurants, Hotels and Schools
NCH Healthcare System, LifeVac, and Collier Community Foundation were on hand at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse in Naples to give away hundreds of LifeVac choking rescue device kits to local restaurants, schools and hotels for them to have on hand at their place of business in Collier County for the unexpected moment that someone starts choking.
Choking is the fourth leading cause of unintentional injury death in the United States according to Injury Facts, and can be more prevalent in the elderly, children, and those with swallowing difficulties. We have all heard of the Heimlich Maneuver, and this technique remains the gold standard for attempting to unblock the airway of a choking victim. But for those untrained in the method, and who have access to a LifeVac apparatus, this choking rescue device could help save a life in a choking emergency.
“We are so excited to collaborate with NCH Healthcare System and Collier Community Foundation to protect the community from a choking emergency. LifeVac is a simple device that has saved hundreds of lives around the world. It’s as easy as place, push, pull,” said Michael Plunkett, President of LIfeVac.
The LifeVac choking rescue device is an ingeniously simple apparatus that is very easy to use, requires no training, and parents of those children whose lives have been saved by the novel device, swear by it. At the event, invited restaurants, schools, and hotels were able to pick up their free LifeVac device for their institutions and were given brief instruction on how to use it with all costs covered by donations procured by the NCH Healthcare System and the Collier Community Foundation.
“NCH Healthcare System is always looking for ways to safeguard the health of our community,” said Paul Hiltz, President & CEO, NCH Healthcare System. “The LifeVac choking rescue tool is just one more way where NCH Healthcare System can help make a difference in our community and possibly save a life.”
